Gwangju Police to Launch Focused Crackdown on Reckless Two-Wheeled Vehicles Ahead of National Foundation Day
The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency and the Gwangju Autonomous Police Committee will conduct a focused crackdown on illegal activities involving two-wheeled vehicles throughout Gwangju from the night of October 2 to the early morning of October 3.
To preemptively block any signs of reckless or dangerous driving during National Foundation Day, the police will deploy 146 officers from the traffic patrol, traffic investigation team, and other units, along with 51 pieces of equipment including patrol cars and police motorcycles. They will combine patrols and enforcement for proactive prevention.
Alcohol checkpoints will also be set up at major intersections and anticipated gathering spots for two-wheeled vehicles. The authorities aim to secure traffic safety through fixed-point enforcement and visible police presence.
The crackdown will not be limited to reckless driving. The police, in cooperation with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority and local governments, will also conduct joint enforcement against violations of the Automobile Management Act, such as excessive noise and illegal modifications of two-wheeled vehicles.
