Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony Held for New Recipients on the 27th
The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation continues its support for young talents from ASEAN countries. This year as well, the foundation is selecting new scholarship recipients, taking the lead in nurturing ASEAN talent across various fields.
On the 29th, the foundation announced that the amount it has provided over the past six years to discover future ASEAN talents who will contribute to the global community has reached 14 billion KRW. On the 27th, the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Scholarship certificate award ceremony was held at On Dream Society in Myeong-dong, Seoul, for new ASEAN scholarship recipients.
This year’s selected students are 13 individuals who will enter Korea University, Seoul National University, Yonsei University, Hanyang University, KAIST, and KDI School of Public Policy and Management in the fall semester of 2026. They will pursue master’s and doctoral degrees in fields such as business administration, construction and environmental engineering, and public policy. The students’ nationalities include Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Scholarship is the foundation’s flagship scholarship program, operated for 15 years and reflecting the talent development philosophy of its founder, Honorary Chairman Chung Mong-Koo of Hyundai Motor Group.
Based on the founder’s philosophy-"Do what is right, care for others, and do not fear failure in pursuit of excellence"-the foundation has provided scholarships to domestic students since 2011. In 2020, the program expanded to include eight ASEAN countries, awarding a total of 14 billion KRW to 244 international students, with an average of approximately 57 million KRW per student.
Selected scholarship recipients are given the highest level of scholarship benefits in Korea. These include full tuition coverage from admission to graduation, an annual academic scholarship of 14.4 million KRW, a settlement grant of 2.5 million KRW, and a graduation grant of 1 million KRW. Additionally, up to 3 million KRW is provided for publishing papers in internationally renowned journals or participating in international academic conferences.
Last year, the foundation signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea University, Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Hanyang University, and established an undergraduate scholarship program in addition to the graduate program. The foundation selects around 30 students from Vietnam and Indonesia, who attend two semesters as exchange students at these universities and receive full tuition coverage and academic scholarships for one year.

At the same time, these initiatives are expected to contribute to the internationalization of domestic universities and the influx of outstanding international talent into Korea.
