Yeosu MBC Suncheon Relocation Opposition Committee to Launch on the 27th
18 Members Including Mayor Chung Kimyung and City Council Chairperson Baek Insook Form Committee
The "Pan-Citizen Countermeasure Committee Opposing the Relocation of Yeosu MBC to Suncheon," established to keep Yeosu MBC in Yeosu, has completed preparations for full-scale activities, including forming its members.
According to the city on the 21st, the "Yeosu MBC Suncheon Relocation Opposition Pan-Citizen Countermeasure Committee" (hereafter referred to as the Committee) held a preparatory committee meeting on the 20th in the conference room on the 3rd floor of the City Hall Health Center. The meeting was attended by 18 committee members, including representatives from civic groups, journalists, the Yeosu Jonggo Association, the MBC Alumni Association, city council members, and city officials, as well as 4 Yeosu MBC executives and staff members, including Park Kwangsoo, Director of the Yeosu MBC Management Review Center, and about 30 other related participants.

View original imageThe meeting lasted for two and a half hours and included introductions of the attending committee members, an explanation of the purpose and outline of the operation, a presentation of Yeosu MBC's position followed by a Q&A session, and discussions on the committee's operational plans.
At the meeting, Yeosu MBC provided a relatively detailed explanation of the current difficulties facing the company and the need for relocation, and fielded nearly two hours of questions from the committee members.
The committee plans to hold an inaugural ceremony on the 27th to officially begin its activities, with the location and time to be determined based on the number of participants and other considerations.
Park Jonggil, Chairman of the Committee and Director of the Yeosu Community Research Institute, stated, "I am grateful for being recommended to such an important position," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that the citizens prevail and that Yeosu MBC remains in Yeosu."

Meanwhile, the committee will be co-chaired by three people: Yeosu Mayor Chung Kimyung, City Council Chairperson Baek Insook, and Park Jonggil, Director of the Yeosu Community Research Institute. The working-level council consists of 18 committee members representing various sectors of the community.
