Citizen Convenience and Long-Standing Community Initiatives
Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on August 7 that it had secured a total of 16.9 billion won in the first round of special adjustment grants from Gyeonggi Province for 2025.
The city plans to use the secured budget for 53 projects aimed at improving the convenience of local residents and addressing long-standing community needs.
Major projects include: ▲ Installation of new road lighting on Heungdo-ro (550 million won); ▲ Media landscape lighting project for local revitalization (400 million won); ▲ Environmental improvement project for the Hwajeong Culture Street area (800 million won); ▲ Gasigolcheon environmental maintenance project (600 million won); ▲ Creation of Ainuri Theme Park in Jido Park (900 million won); ▲ Janghang Waterway bridge installation project (500 million won); ▲ Environmental improvement project for the Gongneungcheon promenade and bicycle path (410 million won); ▲ Seonga Park environmental improvement project (400 million won); ▲ Nightscape improvement project for the Janghang-dong tourism special zone (200 million won); ▲ Lighting improvement works at Goyang Sports Town (1 billion won); ▲ Maintenance project for the Ilsan-ro pedestrian overpass (500 million won); ▲ Support project for climate-vulnerable groups (creation of cooling shelters, installation of cooling fog systems) (430 million won), among others.

Mayor Lee Donghwan stated, "As these funds have been secured despite difficult internal and external fiscal conditions, we plan to use them to resolve citizen inconveniences and address local issues." He added, "We will continue to make every effort to secure additional budget through ongoing proposals for projects that are truly necessary for our citizens."
