New Water Cannon and Spinning Sled Introduced
"Smart Waiting System" Applied for the First Time
Gumi City, Gyeongbuk, will operate the "Nakdong River Water Park," which has emerged as a popular summer destination, for a total of 37 days from July 19 to August 24, 2025.
Gumi City, Gyeongbuk, is making the Nakdong River Water Park's water cannons and night openings even more fun this year.
View original imageThis year, the season has been extended by one week compared to last year, and the city has made significant improvements across water play facilities, operational systems, and cultural content. As a result, the park is expected to attract even more families.
Gumi City stated, "We have fully upgraded the facilities and introduced a smart system to provide citizens with a safer and more pleasant summer experience in the city during the hot weather. This has created a more advanced leisure space."
◆ Night Openings and New Facilities: A City Water Park Open Day and Night
The park will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a lunch break from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and a 15-minute regular maintenance and safety check at the top of every hour.
In particular, for the first time, night openings will be introduced from August 1 to August 10, when the heat is at its peak, operating from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Nighttime water play under LED lights with family is expected to offer a unique experience.
Key facilities include the existing water sled (90 meters), polar bear slide, lazy river, three modular pools, four air pools, and a water basket. This year, a water cannon and a spinning sled (one unit) have been newly added. The water cannon, in particular, encourages water battles between users, providing a dynamic, hands-on play experience.
◆ Shorter Waiting Lines, More Rest Areas: Creating Smart Rest Spaces
The newly introduced "Smart Waiting System" is an IT-based system that allows visitors to check real-time entry wait times and helps disperse crowds.
This enables citizens to check the waiting status via smartphone without standing in line in the heat, which is expected to greatly improve satisfaction.
Rest facilities have also been significantly expanded. In addition to the existing 40-meter air-conditioned shelter, a new 50-meter tent shelter has been installed to enhance comfort. Three food trucks will be operating on-site at all times, providing convenient access to snacks and beverages.
◆ Cultural Performances Every Saturday: A Summer Festival for the Whole Family
Every Saturday, cultural performances for children?including magic shows, balloon shows, popular character puppet shows, and photo time?will be held, offering families a unique source of enjoyment. Gumi City is transforming the park from a simple water play area into an "urban summer cultural festival."
Safety operations will also be thoroughly managed. A total of 30 safety personnel will be on duty at all times to manage facility safety and maintain an emergency response system for urgent situations.
Gumi City residents receive a 50% discount on admission fees. Admission is 4,000 won for infants and children (under 13), and 6,000 won for teenagers and adults (13 and over), with Gumi City residents eligible for a 50% discount.
Mayor Kim Jangho of Gumi City stated, "This year's Nakdong River Water Park is not just a summer facility, but a symbolic space that combines Gumi City's pursuit of smart administration with improvements to citizens' quality of life. Above all, we will do our utmost to ensure that citizens can enjoy a safe and memorable summer."
