Dongwha Electrolyte Secures First LFP Electrolyte Order with 20,000-Ton ESS Supply Contract
Produced in Malaysia and Supplied to Local Cell Plant
"Proving Global Manufacturing Capabilities"
On May 20, Dongwha Electrolyte announced that it has signed a contract with a global battery cell manufacturer to supply 20,000 tons of electrolyte for LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries used in energy storage systems (ESS). The contract period runs from 2026 to 2027.
This is the first time Dongwha Electrolyte has secured a contract for electrolyte for LFP batteries. Until now, the company has focused primarily on ternary products such as NCM. However, this contract is seen as proof of its ability to develop products and manufacturing capabilities in line with market trends.
The contracted volume will be produced at the company's Malaysian production base and supplied to the customer's local plant. By expanding operations at its Malaysian factory, which serves as one of its global production hubs, Dongwha Electrolyte aims to increase its market share in Asia.
Meanwhile, Dongwha Electrolyte continues to strengthen its technological competitiveness in the LFP battery sector. The company is currently leading a government-funded project for the development of high-performance LFP batteries, and has completed pilot production and performance verification of products based on its proprietary patented technology.
