At a press conference held at the Chungnam Provincial Government Press Center that day, the committee stated, "Five months ago, President Yoon Sukyeol's declaration of martial law brought an insurrection crisis to the Republic of Korea," adding, "Citizens across Chungnam have opened impeachment squares and have fought with a sense of urgency."
The committee went on to say, "The struggle to completely eradicate the forces of insurrection must continue," emphasizing, "This presidential election is an extension of the protests in the squares."
The committee added, "We cannot stop at only eradicating the forces of insurrection and changing the government," explaining, "We must take one step further for a better future for the Republic of Korea."
They continued, "This presidential election must go beyond government change and the eradication of insurrectionist forces, and become an election that seeks the tasks and methods for transforming our society," vowing, "We will launch a major social reform to resolve social inequality and build a fair and just Republic of Korea, overcoming the damage caused by the conservative two-party political system."
Meanwhile, the committee pledged to enact a Special Act for Power Plant Closure Areas, to close coal-fired power plants early, to introduce free public transportation, and to promote the construction of a civilian airport in Seosan.
