Kim Jinnam, Jeonnam Provincial Council Member, Proposes Measures for Student Health and Local Economy Revitalization
Kim Jinnam, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Council (Democratic Party of Korea, Suncheon 5), announced on the 13th that he had proposed key measures to protect students' health and revitalize the local economy during a recent Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education business report.
According to Kim, under Article 47 of the current "Pharmaceutical Affairs Act" and Article 44 of its Enforcement Regulations, medicines used in schools cannot be purchased from regular pharmacies and must be obtained through pharmaceutical wholesalers. In addition, Article 15 of the "School Health Act" stipulates that school principals may appoint school pharmacists to provide advice on medicine management and school health care.

View original imageIn response, Kim emphasized, "If school medicines cannot be purchased from regular pharmacies, we should encourage the purchase of medicines from local businesses within Jeonnam to boost the local economy and establish a rapid supply system within the region to enhance the efficiency of student health management." He also added, "We need to strengthen the cooperation system with local pharmacists so that students can safely take the medicines provided at school."
In particular, Kim highlighted the importance of medication guidance and education to prevent drug misuse, suggesting, "We should establish a system to appoint nearby pharmacists to provide regular medication guidance education for students and school health teachers."
He further stated, "If this proposal is realized, not only will the level of student health management improve, but it is also expected to have a positive impact on the local economy through cooperation with local pharmacists."
