Incheon City announced on the 6th that it will invest 21.4 billion KRW of national and city funds this year to promote the 'Regional Innovation-Centered University Support (RISE) Project.'
The city held the first RISE Committee meeting of 2025 the day before to review and approve this year's implementation plan. The budget by sector includes 5.9 billion KRW for nurturing future talents leading Incheon's strategic industries, 4.9 billion KRW for university specialization and regional-industry-academia cooperation, and 2.7 billion KRW for lifelong education innovation linked to Incheon jobs.
RISE is a project by the Ministry of Education that transfers part of university financial support authority to local governments to help universities become the center of regional innovation.
The city reflects six strategic industries and regional specialized industries (bio, semiconductor, aviation, future cars, robotics, data/digital + logistics, manufacturing) in university financial support projects to promote co-growth of the region, universities, and companies.
