On the 20th, Representative Cho received the 'Best User of the National Assembly Library Award' in the monograph borrowing category, selected in celebration of the 73rd anniversary of the National Assembly Library's opening. The award ceremony, held at the main building's reception room, was attended by National Assembly Speaker Woo Wonshik, and National Assembly Library Director Hwang Junggeun personally expressed his gratitude.
The National Assembly Library annually recognizes 'Best User of the National Assembly Library' by evaluating members of the National Assembly in four categories: member visits, parliamentary/legal information inquiry use, monograph borrowing, and electronic library use.
Since the opening of the 22nd National Assembly, Representative Cho has borrowed the most books and was selected as the best user. As the lead sponsor of the world's second 'AI Basic Act' and the 'Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology Act,' Representative Cho attributed his success to consistently borrowing books on AI and science and technology, ensuring he stayed up-to-date with the latest trends.
This steady reading habit laid the foundation for his recognition last year as an 'Outstanding Member of the National Assembly for the National Audit' by the Democratic Party of Korea and as an 'Outstanding Member for Honam' by the Honam Voters' Association.
Representative Cho stated, "There is always a path ahead in books. Former President Kim Daejung, a renowned avid reader, created 'IT Korea' even before the IMF crisis had ended, thanks to his foresight. Now, as global competition for AI supremacy intensifies, new books on AI are still pouring out. As a member of the Science, ICT, Broadcasting, and Communications Committee, aiming for Korea to become one of the top three AI powerhouses, I will continue to seek the right path with a sense of responsibility."
Meanwhile, since its opening in 1952, the National Assembly Library has supported legislative and policy decisions and operates services such as book lending, parliamentary/legal information inquiry, and AI legislative support services.
