This visit was organized to promote the joint brand "Daesup Malgeun Damyang" and expand distribution channels, as Damyang strawberries and tomatoes, which have been recording the highest wholesale prices as premium agricultural products, are entering their peak season.
Governor Lee, together with public officials, members of the county council, the local agricultural cooperative, and about 30 members of the wholesale market shipping association, observed the agricultural product auction and held a meeting with major wholesale corporations.
During the meeting, efforts were focused on expanding the shipment volume of representative premium varieties such as Damyang Jukhyang and Merry Queen strawberries, and promoting the excellence of "Todamtodam," a new functional tomato variety brand.
At the promotional site, Governor Lee emphasized, "Damyang agricultural products are cultivated in fertile soil, with abundant sunlight and the pristine natural environment at the source of the Yeongsan River, resulting in outstanding taste and aroma. We will further expand the cultivation area of premium agricultural products and support cultivation technology and manpower to maintain our reputation."
Meanwhile, Damyang County is one of the top three strawberry producing regions in Korea, producing 9,078 tons annually from 367 hectares, generating an income of 163.4 billion KRW. The new tomato variety "Todamtodam," developed in Damyang, contains large amounts of functional substances such as phytoene and phytofluene, which have skin whitening properties, and is characterized by its soft texture and sweet taste.
