The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heavy snow advisory at 1:30 p.m. on this day for 11 cities and counties in Gwangju and Jeonnam (Naju, Jangseong, Gangjin, Haenam, Wando, Yeongam, Muan, Hampyeong, Mokpo, Shinan, and Jindo).
A heavy snow advisory is issued when snowfall is predicted to exceed 5 cm within 24 hours.
On the 6th, as cold air moves down from the northwest, temperatures will be 3 to 10 degrees lower than the seasonal average (lowest -5~0°C, highest 4~8°C), resulting in continued severe cold.
On the morning of the 6th, the lowest temperatures are expected to be -10°C in Damyang, Gokseong, Gurye, and Hwasun; -8°C in Jangseong and Boseong; -7°C in Naju, Yeongam, and Suncheon; -6°C in Yeonggwang, Hampyeong, Jangheung, and Gwangyang; -5°C in Gwangju, Muan, Mokpo, Haenam, Gangjin, Goheung, and Yeosu; and -4°C in Shinan, Jindo, and Wando.
The highest daytime temperatures will be 4°C in Jindo, Wando, Goheung, and Gwangyang; 3°C in Gwangju, Naju, Hampyeong, Shinan, Mokpo, Haenam, Yeongam, Jangheung, Gangjin, Suncheon, and Yeosu; and 2°C in Jangseong, Yeonggwang, Damyang, Gokseong, Gurye, Hwasun, Muan, and Boseong, which is higher than the previous day.
Waves in the West Sea will be 1 to 3 meters high, and in the South Sea, 1 to 2 meters. Both fine and ultrafine dust levels will remain 'good.'
An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration said, "In areas where snow is falling, visibility will be reduced and the snow may freeze, creating icy roads and black ice. Please maintain a safe distance and drive slowly when operating vehicles."
