Na Kyung-won on Seobu District Court Riot: "Tragic Disaster Continues... Fundamental Causes Must Also Be Examined"
"Yoon Deprived of Opportunity to Defend Himself Due to Detention"
"Democratic Party Deceives the Public on Special Prosecutor Law"
"Politically Motivated and Hasty Investigations"
Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, criticized the Constitutional Court and the judiciary, saying that the root cause of the riot incident at the Seoul Western District Court must be considered.
On the 20th, Na posted on her social media account, "A tragic disaster continues. Violent acts cannot be justified for any reason," but she opened by saying, "We must also examine the root cause that led to this unfortunate situation." She said, "The law should be equal before everyone, but the leader of the major opposition party was released without detention due to his political background as a party leader, while a detention warrant was issued for the incumbent president with only a 15-character reason citing concerns about evidence destruction." She questioned, "The presidential impeachment trial is currently underway at the Constitutional Court. However, the president was deprived of the opportunity to appear before the court and defend himself due to detention. Is this truly the rule of law?"
She continued, "The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) does not even have the authority to investigate treason, yet it launched an investigation into 'treason charges,' and requested an arrest warrant from the Seoul Western District Court, which is not the competent court, sparking controversy over 'judge shopping.'" She criticized, "Moreover, the judge in charge of warrants arbitrarily attached a proviso excluding the application of Articles 110 and 111 of the Criminal Procedure Act, effectively 'creating law' on their own." She added, "Isn't this the same court that judged there was no concern of evidence destruction for former leader Lee Jae-myung and no risk of flight for former leader Cho Kuk despite a two-year prison sentence in the appellate court?" She pointed out, "If detention investigations and trials proceed, the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial should naturally be halted. The Constitutional Court and the judiciary must not engage in a race for speed or conduct hasty trials under political considerations beyond due process."

Furthermore, Na said, "There are serious problems with the special prosecutor law currently being promoted. The Democratic Party claims that deleting foreign exchange crimes and treason propaganda and incitement crimes has softened the special prosecutor law, but this is deceiving the public," and added, "The prosecution, police, and CIO have already been conducting investigations related to martial law, and investigations of key suspects are nearing completion, yet insisting on a special prosecutor is merely a black political strategy aimed at early presidential election propaganda." Finally, she emphasized, "We are now at a critical crossroads where the foundation of the rule of law is shaking. Institutions that should protect the law are instead abusing it to achieve political goals," and warned, "If such flexible standards and politically motivated, hasty investigations continue, our society will fall into greater conflict and chaos, leaving irreparable wounds and divisions."
