Assemblyman Cho Kyung-ho, who has been confirmed as the People Power Party's candidate for mayor of Daegu, emphasized on the 26th, "If we lose in this election, conservatism will collapse down to its very roots."
At a press conference held that day at the People Power Party Daegu Metropolitan City Office in Suseong District, Daegu, Assemblyman Cho stated, "Citizens of Daegu and fellow party members have entrusted me with an important mission: to absolutely defend Daegu, the heart of conservatism." The press conference took place immediately after the party's Nomination Management Committee confirmed Cho as the final candidate for Daegu mayor on the morning of the same day.

View original imageAssemblyman Cho remarked, "The Democratic Party of Korea, which has seized control of both legislative and executive branches, is now pressuring the judiciary and attempting to take over local power in Daegu as well." He added, "The last counterbalance that protects the Republic of Korea must ultimately be reestablished here in Daegu."
Addressing Kim Boo-kyum, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate, Cho proposed the formation of a "Daegu Economic Development Joint Council" involving both ruling and opposition parties. He stressed, "We must create a framework for Daegu's sustainable development that transcends administrations and parties," adding, "When it comes to Daegu's future, we should be willing to set aside politics and competition, even if only temporarily."
He went on to say, "Daegu's economy is currently in a structural crisis, with its industrial base trembling. That is why proven economic leadership is needed." He emphasized, "I, Cho Kyung-ho, am a professional and economic mayor who can be put into action from day one."
He also announced plans to work in close cooperation with Governor Lee Cheol-woo, who has been confirmed as the People Power Party's candidate for governor of North Gyeongsang Province. Assemblyman Cho said, "Just before coming here, I spoke with Governor Lee. We agreed to approach the Daegu-Gyeongbuk (TK) elections with a one-team spirit." He added, "TK is an inseparable community where we support one another. We reaffirmed our determination that People Power Party must win in TK by assisting and uniting our efforts."
