Democratic Party: "If People Power Party Proposes Internal Rebellion Special Investigation Act, Discussion Possible"
"If Proposed Even by Tomorrow Morning, Discussions Will Begin"
Regarding the People Power Party's announcement that they will propose their own bill for the Special Investigation Law on the General Rebellion (Special Rebellion Investigation Law), the Democratic Party of Korea hinted at the possibility of negotiations but pressured them to 'just propose the bill first.'
On the 9th, lawmakers from the six opposition parties submitted the Special Investigation Act on Sedition at the National Assembly's Legislative Affairs Office. Spokesperson Kang predicted that if the People Power Party proposes the Special Rebellion Investigation Law soon, it could be processed during this week's plenary session. He said, "The plenary session will be held on the 16th, and after discussions with the People Power Party, it is possible to pass it in the plenary session," adding, "The sooner the (Special Rebellion Investigation Law) is proposed, especially within today, the faster the discussions will proceed."
If the floor leaders of both ruling and opposition parties begin actual discussions, negotiations are expected over the contentious points of the Special Rebellion Investigation Law. The Democratic Party included the crime of foreign exchange inducement in the law, but the People Power Party insists it should be excluded. Spokesperson Kang stated, "We are willing to discuss all parts proposed by the People Power Party," and added, "If they propose the (Special Rebellion Investigation Law) even by tomorrow morning, we will meet and start discussions."

However, the People Power Party suggested naming the bill not as the Special Rebellion Investigation Law but as the 'Emergency Martial Law Special Investigation Law,' excluding the crimes of foreign exchange inducement and rebellion propaganda/incitement from the investigation scope, and expanding the authority to recommend special investigation candidates.
