Seocho-gu Wins Six Awards in External Evaluation of Health Policies
Awarded for Mind Investment Support and Dementia Management
Seocho-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 12th that it has been honored as an outstanding institution in various external evaluations of health policies throughout this year.
The district achieved awards in a total of six areas including Mind Investment Support, Dementia Management, Food Hygiene, Metabolic Syndrome Management, Public Health Branch Office Projects, and Smoking Cessation Projects in various external evaluations and public contests assessing this year’s public health center projects.
It was selected as the best local government in the “National Mind Investment Support Project Evaluation” hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The National Mind Investment Support Project provides professional one-on-one face-to-face psychological counseling services in the form of vouchers up to 8 sessions over 120 days to residents experiencing emotional difficulties.
In this award, the district was evaluated as having the largest number of service providers (40 locations) and personnel (188 people) nationwide by prioritizing convenience and accessibility for residents and actively securing service providers.
Also, Seocho-gu’s unique “Seocho Cooling Center” project was selected as the grand prize winner in the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s “Dementia Management Project Performance Evaluation Competition Special Project Contest.” The “Seocho Cooling Center,” created using the Safe House space within the Seocho-gu Dementia Safety Center, provided a resting space for dementia patients and their families during the summer and offered healing programs such as cognitive tool experiences for families, receiving great responses.
Seocho-gu also won the Excellence Award in the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s “Comprehensive Evaluation in the Food Hygiene Field.” The district promoted the “Hygiene Diagnosis and Customized Consulting Project for Delivery Restaurants and Group Catering Facilities” to strengthen hygiene management through non-face-to-face services. Additionally, to prepare for the increasing drug crimes, joint nighttime crackdowns on entertainment establishments were conducted with the police and consumer food inspectors to eradicate narcotics.
In the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s “Metabolic Syndrome Management Project Evaluation,” Seocho-gu was the only autonomous district in Seoul to be selected as an excellent institution for 13 consecutive years. The district provides metabolic syndrome management services to over 110,000 residents through 18 specialized metabolic syndrome management personnel, one of the highest numbers nationwide.
At the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s “Public Health Branch Office Performance Sharing Competition,” Bangbae Public Health Branch Office was selected as an excellent institution. Its life-cycle dietary improvement project, the “Seocho Nutrition Guide Project,” was honored as an exemplary case.
Furthermore, on the 4th, the district won the grand prize in the “Smoking Cessation Environment Creation” category and an encouragement award in the “Youth Smoking Prevention” category at the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s “Smoking Cessation Project Performance Competition.”
