Ahead of impeachment vote, man in his 50s attempts self-immolation near National Assembly... Protesting outrage
On the 7th, a man in his 50s who attempted self-immolation near the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, ahead of the impeachment vote against President Yoon Suk-yeol, was apprehended by the police.
According to the Siheung Police Station in Gyeonggi Province, at around 10:50 a.m. that day, Mr. A called 112 and reported, "I will set myself on fire near the National Assembly." He reportedly said this was "to resist tyranny and injustice." Upon receiving the report, the Siheung Police Station requested cooperation from the Seoul police and tracked Mr. A.
After tracking, Mr. A was caught by officers from the Yeouido Police Substation near the National Assembly in Yeouido at around 12:20 p.m., one hour and 30 minutes after the report. At the time, it was confirmed that Mr. A had poured thinner on himself and attempted self-immolation.
