Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 22nd that it will conduct a comprehensive crackdown on illegal distribution of the local currency 'Pyeongtaek Sarang Gift Certificate' until the 13th of next month to create a healthy circulation environment.
This crackdown will focus on merchant stores suspected of illegal distribution based on citizen reports and data extracted from the abnormal transaction detection system. The main targets of the crackdown include ▲illegal receipt and unauthorized exchange ▲operating in restricted business sectors ▲refusal of payment ▲discriminatory acts against cash ▲and other cases deemed necessary for enforcement.

If caught during the crackdown, merchants may face cancellation of their registration and fines of up to 20 million won according to relevant laws. A city official stated, "We ask for the active cooperation of merchants and citizens to eradicate illegal distribution of the Pyeongtaek Sarang Gift Certificate."
