Gwangyang City Chinese Delegation Visits Huawei and Others to Seek 'Economic Cooperation'

Discuss Investment Cooperation During Visit to Global Company Headquarters
The civil, government, and economic delegation from Gwangyang City visiting Xianjin City, China, signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen friendly cooperation on the second day of their schedule, June 6, at the Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce.

View original imageThe agreement was made by exchanging the memorandum of understanding between Woo Kwang-il, president of the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the representative of the Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce. Woo Kwang-il said, “We hope this agreement will lead to expanded practical exchange and cooperation between companies in Gwangyang City and Shenzhen City.”
Following the visit to the Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce, the delegation visited the headquarters of Huawei, a cloud service, telecommunications equipment, and smartphone manufacturer, and Tencent, an internet service company operating cloud services, SNS platforms, and the world’s largest online games.
The delegation met with representatives from each company to actively explore possible areas of cooperation and agreed to collaborate. In particular, they had in-depth discussions with officials from the Shenzhen Cross-border E-commerce Association on ways to expand the distribution of Gwangyang City’s agricultural and specialty products within China using e-commerce platforms.
During the remaining schedule, the delegation plans to visit iMakerbase at Dagongfang (大公坊) to introduce Gwangyang City’s venture business promotion policies and infrastructure, and to sign a mutual memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Gwangyang Venture Valley Business Association and Dagongfang.

Meanwhile, the delegation, led by Mayor Jeong In-hwa, consists of 22 members including Jo Hyun-ok, vice chairman of the Gwangyang City Council, Woo Kwang-il, president of the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ahn Seong-su, chairman of the Gwangyang Venture Valley Business Association, officials from relevant departments of Gwangyang City, and representatives from POSCO’s external cooperation and venture support sections as well as secondary battery and venture companies.
