It was right after he secured the Genesis Award on the 3rd. He said, "I didn't expect to receive the award this quickly," and added, "I will focus on improving my putting and preparing for the final stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament (QT)."
Jang Yu-bin finished tied for 25th at the Dong-A Membership Group Open (total prize money of 700 million KRW), held at Jangsu Golf Resort (par 71, 7,165 yards) in Jangsu-gun, Jeollabuk-do. With this tournament, he accumulated 7,442.29 points for the Genesis Award, maintaining a gap of over 1,000 points ahead of second-place Kim Min-gyu (5,949.46 points), securing the honor of this year’s award regardless of the results of the season finale Tour Championship starting on the 7th.
He received a bonus prize of 200 million KRW, a Genesis vehicle, a 5-year KPGA Tour card, a 1-year DP World Tour card, and qualification for the final stage of the PGA Tour QT. He also earned the right to participate in the 2025 PGA Tour Genesis Scottish Open.
In a post-match interview, Jang said, "At the beginning of this year, I set the goal to win the award, but I never thought I would achieve it this quickly. The sense of accomplishment is great, and I want to tell myself ‘well done’ because I can now envision a better future." He continued, "I consider my season to last until December when the PGA Tour QT takes place, and I want to improve my skills as much as possible to achieve good results."
The final stage of the PGA Tour QT is scheduled for December. If a player finishes in the top 5, they can immediately join the 2025 PGA Tour season. Additionally, the top 40 players will qualify for the PGA Korn Ferry Tour (the second-tier tour). Jang said, "I tend to lose more strokes with my putter than with mistakes in my shots. Putting has been a long-standing challenge for me, but if I gain more confidence in that area, I believe I can compete well on the U.S. stage."
