"I'll Be Back"... Employee Who Fled After Withdrawing 6 Million Won Using Customer's Card
Using Pseudonyms Even During Interviews... Difficult to Verify Identity
A karaoke room employee reportedly disappeared after withdrawing millions of won using a customer's card.
On the 3rd, JTBC's 'Case Manager' shared the story of karaoke room owner Mr. A, who suffered losses due to hiring the wrong employee. Mr. A, who runs a karaoke room in Incheon, explained, "On the 21st of last month, a customer gave me their cash card and PIN, asking me to withdraw 20 bills of 50,000 won each, totaling 1 million won."
Since Mr. A often received such requests, he was about to take the card to the ATM when employee Mr. B, who was nearby, insisted, "I'll go instead." Unable to leave the counter unattended, Mr. A handed the card to Mr. B. Afterwards, Mr. B withdrew about 6 million won from the customer's card and disappeared.
Mr. A stated, "This employee committed the crime just three days after being hired," and added, "It seems he was employed with the intention of committing a crime from the start." He also noted, "During the interview, Mr. B used a fake name and continuously delayed submitting identification documents such as his ID card and resident registration."
Currently, the police are pursuing the employee, but it is reported that even identifying him is difficult. Mr. A said, "I think it was my fault for hiring the wrong employee," and explained, "Feeling a moral responsibility, I compensated the victim customer with 4 million won out of my own pocket." He also expressed concern, saying, "I am reporting this because I worry that this problematic employee might commit similar crimes elsewhere."
