The 48th National Conference on Korean Archaeology, a scholarly festival for domestic and international experts in archaeology and history, will be held over two days from November 1 to 2 at the National Asian Culture Complex (ACC).

This academic conference, themed "Exchange and Economy," will feature 31 presenters and discussants across 14 sessions, with about 3,000 specialists participating. They will discuss topics including research on Korean exchange and economy, interpretations of Korean archaeology and Buddhist archaeology from the perspectives of overseas researchers, digital archaeology, and findings from investigations of ancient steppe routes and maritime routes.

To commemorate the event, the city will also hold the "Gwangju Cultural Heritage Talk Concert" on October 31 at 2 p.m. in the City Hall Citizen Hall, under the theme "Formation of Opportunity City Gwangju: Today's High-Tech is Tomorrow's Heri-Tech."

Meanwhile, Gwangju City preserves 159 cultural heritages, including the national historic site "Sinchangdong Site," a representative Mahan cultural heritage, and the "Chunghyodong Kiln Site," a production hub for Joseon Dynasty ceramics. Recently, the city reconstructed "Heegyeongru," known as the "East's Greatest Pavilion," and is actively working to preserve and utilize cultural heritage by establishing the "Asia Community Heritage Transmission Culture Platform," which industrializes cultural heritage into content using artificial intelligence (AI) and media technology.
