On the 28th, President Yoon Suk-yeol had a phone conversation at the request of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during which they shared the latest information on North Korea's deployment of troops to Russia and its involvement in the Ukraine war, and discussed response measures.
The South Korean government delegation briefed NATO on the same day and is scheduled to provide briefings and hold consultations at the European Union (EU) Political and Security Committee on the 29th. It was also explained that the delegation will visit Ukraine to share information with intelligence and defense officials and discuss future cooperation plans.
In this phone call, which took place a week after the call on the 21st, Secretary General Rutte emphasized that the illegal military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, including North Korea's troop deployment to Russia, is escalating the conflict and poses a serious threat to international peace and prosperity. He also expressed special gratitude to South Korea for promptly sending a government delegation to share information with NATO member countries.
Secretary General Rutte conveyed that he, along with the NATO North Atlantic Council and ambassadors from NATO’s Indo-Pacific partners (IP4)?Japan, Australia, and New Zealand?listened attentively to the South Korean delegation’s briefing.
President Yoon said, "We will continue to closely consult with NATO, and I hope NATO, under Secretary General Rutte’s leadership, will strongly unite and intensify efforts to monitor and block illegal exchanges between Russia and North Korea."

Secretary General Rutte also stated, "We will communicate with the Ukrainian side," adding, "The situation of the Ukraine war involving North Korean troops is NATO’s top priority, and we hope to continuously share battlefield-related information and consult with South Korea on response measures."
