Hongseong-gun to Demolish Abandoned Gwangcheon Building After 30 Years, Develop Facilities for Return-to-Farming and Rural Migration
The abandoned building in Gwangcheon, Hongseong, Chungnam, which has been a headache for over 30 years, will be demolished.
According to Hongseong County on the 21st, an abandoned multi-family housing complex in Sangjeong-ri, Gwangcheon-eup has been left neglected for more than 30 years, continuously causing complaints from residents.
To address this, the county formed a resident committee last year and has been preparing for a public project. As a result, it was selected for the Rural Space Improvement Project by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Old Town Vacant House Redevelopment Project by Chungnam Province, securing a budget of 10 billion won.
Accordingly, demolition work will begin next year, and facilities for attracting returning farmers and new residents, rest areas, and parking lots will be established.
Lee Yongrok, the governor of Hongseong County, said, "This selection for the public project is a great achievement realized by the wishes of 100,000 county residents," and added, "We will expand the insufficient rural infrastructure and improve residential conditions so that residents can live in a pleasant and safe environment."
