Ulsan Office of Education Holds Student Recitation and Reading Finals... 30 Teams from Elementary, Middle, and High Schools Participate
Awards Presented to Six Students Including Lee Hajun from Okdong Elementary School
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Changsoo) hosted the ‘2024 Student Recitation and Reading Finals’, where 12 teams from elementary schools and 18 teams from middle and high schools competed.
As a result of the competition, in the recitation category, Lee Hajun from Okdong Elementary School won the grand prize for the elementary division, while Ahn Minyu from Jinjang Middle School and Kang Hayeon from Maegok High School each received the grand prize for the middle and high school divisions, respectively, demonstrating their skills.
In the reading category, Lee Boni from Ujeong Elementary School won the grand prize for the elementary division, while Lee Hyeonju from Hogye Middle School and Lee Jaehoon from Daehyeon High School each won the grand prize for the middle and high school divisions, respectively.
This competition, held on the 9th at the JW Convention Center in Buk-gu, was organized to increase students' interest in reading and to encourage consistent reading activities through various reading and humanities events.
Jo Jin-ho, chief judge (principal of Noksu Elementary School), said in the general review, “The process of reciting and reading good poems and writings greatly helps to cultivate sensitivity and develop humanities literacy,” and added, “I hope students will read many books in their daily lives to enhance their literary sensibility and broaden their opportunities to express themselves through recitation and reading.”
An official from the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education said, “We hope that through this competition, students will experience the joy of reading and gain opportunities to express themselves through recitation and reading.”
