Gongju City Launches Support Project for Commercialization of Rice and Chestnut Products
Recruitment of 3 Small and Medium Stores and 2 Large Stores
Gongju City in Chungnam Province announced that it will promote a product support project utilizing its local specialties, rice and chestnuts.
This project is part of the Technical Support Project for Utilizing Specialty Resources and is being implemented after being selected for a public contest by the Rural Development Administration.
The city will support improvements to snack manufacturing facilities, purchase of processing equipment, new product development consulting, and promotional costs so that rice flour and chestnut jam, processed from local rice and chestnuts, can be commercialized into products such as bread and cookies.
Accordingly, the city is recruiting five stores near major tourist attractions in the region, including three small and medium-sized stores and two large stores that can produce rice cakes, confectionery, and bakery products.
The city plans to provide up to 50 million KRW for small and medium-sized stores with a total floor area of 165 square meters or less, and up to 120 million KRW for large stores exceeding 165 square meters.
Business operators must agree to sign a purchase contract for locally produced rice flour and chestnut jam for at least five years.
Interested companies can refer to the notices posted on the Gongju City Hall website (Notices-General Announcements) or the Gongju Agricultural Technology Center website (Support Project Bulletin), fill out the application form, and submit it either in person to the Rural Development Division or online by the 25th.
Jeon Kyunggyu, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, "Once the construction of the rice flour and chestnut jam processing plant, which is being promoted in the first half of this year, is completed, we plan to establish a win-win model by supplying intermediate products produced by local farms to cafes and other establishments within tourist attractions."
