Hong Jun-pyo Targets Han Dong-hoon: "Is the Party That Accepted Such a Friend Heartless?"
Hong Jun-pyo says to Korea, "No party control... just a show"
Hong Jun-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, criticized Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, on the 24th, saying, "I don't know if our party, which accepts such a person, is generous or shameless."
On the same day, Mayor Hong said on his Facebook, "While that person was enjoying the prime of his life, we were suffering in hell." He added, "Han was overwhelmingly elected with 62% of the vote, but when I became the leader of the Liberty Korea Party, I received 67% of the vote." He continued, "No matter how open a party should be to anyone, I absolutely cannot accept such a person." He also added, "It feels like the Warring States period."
Earlier, Mayor Hong also criticized Han, who requested a private meeting with President Yoon Seok-yeol the day before. He said, "You need to have control over the party to be trusted and have a private meeting, but trying to raise your stock price by having a private meeting without party control is pitiful and regrettable." He added, "You don't announce a private meeting like that in advance."
He said, "That private meeting is not to produce results but just a show," and urged, "Don't rely on those in power for politics; rely on party members and the people." Finally, he concluded, "If the party leader stands at the center of discord, the ruling party will perish," and said, "I was just going to watch, but I was frustrated and had to say something."

Meanwhile, Han responded to the controversy over the disclosure of his request for a private meeting with President Yoon on the same day, saying, "Is it a fact that should not be reported that the ruling party leader requested a private meeting with the president? Of course not." He told reporters at the National Assembly, "Some say the request for a private meeting was leaked to the media, but that's not true."
