SOOP "14,000 AfricaTV Streamers... Contributing to Job Creation"
The streaming platform SOOP is contributing to job creation by supporting new streamers active on the domestic service AfreecaTV.
According to industry sources on the 29th, the number of streamers active on SOOP is estimated to be around 14,000. This indicates that an economic ecosystem is being revitalized where streamers create content on the AfreecaTV platform and share it with users.
In particular, the number of new streamers increased by 57% in the first quarter compared to the previous quarter. In February, the number of new streamers who broadcast on SOOP for the first time exceeded 6,000, reaching the highest level in three years.
The BJs and streamers active on the SOOP platform are continuously increasing, and they are generating stable income by producing various content through AfreecaTV.
Additionally, they are leading positive changes through social contribution activities. Especially, they have been continuously promoting self-regulation for youth protection and campaigns to eradicate harmful media, receiving a commendation for youth protection from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family last year.
SOOP is also supporting the digital transformation of small business owners and SMEs in cooperation with the Small and Medium Business Distribution Center. Local SMEs are pioneering new sales channels, and small business owners are gaining opportunities to introduce and sell products by directly communicating with consumers through live streaming. These live commerce activities are also making a significant contribution to revitalizing the local economy.
Moreover, retired professional gamers are active as BJs, creating educational content based on their experience and serving as guides.
SOOP stated, "We are creating social value in various ways through the AfreecaTV platform and will continue to fulfill our social responsibilities to contribute to building a better society."
