Mirae Asset Management's 'TIGER US Leverage ETF Series' Surpasses 100 Billion KRW in Individual Cumulative Net Purchases
Mirae Asset Global Investments announced on the 22nd that the cumulative net purchases by individual investors of two types of the ‘TIGER US Leverage Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) Series’ have surpassed 100 billion KRW since the beginning of the year.
According to the Korea Exchange, as of the previous day, the cumulative net purchases by individuals of the ‘TIGER Philadelphia Semiconductor Leverage (Synthetic) ETF’ since the start of the year amounted to 81.7 billion KRW. This is the largest scale among overseas leverage ETFs listed domestically. During the same period, the ‘TIGER US Nasdaq100 Leverage (Synthetic) ETF,’ one of the TIGER US Leverage ETF series, attracted 34.2 billion KRW in individual investor funds.
The US ‘Philadelphia Semiconductor Index’ and ‘Nasdaq100 Index,’ which these ETFs track, have been drawing attention due to their steady long-term upward trends. Investing with leverage in indices that trend upward over the long term can maximize returns. In fact, from 2010 to 2023, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index recorded approximately 1,000% growth, and the Nasdaq100 Index achieved 800% growth. Based on these, the leveraged indices rose about 3,800% and 4,000%, respectively.
Along with this, the ‘TIGER US Leverage ETF Series’ has also shown excellent performance. Despite recent increased volatility, as of the 21st, the ‘TIGER Philadelphia Semiconductor Leverage (Synthetic) ETF’ and the ‘TIGER US Nasdaq100 Leverage (Synthetic) ETF’ posted year-to-date returns of 47.02% and 40.34%, respectively (based on NAV). Due to such outstanding returns, leverage ETF investors have engaged in bargain buying, resulting in cumulative net purchases by individuals exceeding 100 billion KRW for the two types of the ‘TIGER US Leverage ETF Series’ since the beginning of the year.
Kim Ji-yeon, Senior Manager of the Global ETF Management Division at Mirae Asset Global Investments, stated, “Although market volatility has increased recently due to earnings uncertainties of major US tech companies and concerns about economic slowdown, the US representative indices are expected to continue their upward trend with the full-scale development of the AI industry. Through the TIGER US Leverage ETF Series, investors can maximize the leverage investment effect on high-growth US representative indices.”
