Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) successfully held the inauguration ceremony of the ‘Dangsan 2-dong Safety Council’ at the Grand Convention Center on the 14th, officially announcing its launch.
The Dangsan 2-dong Safety Council was established after being selected as the final recipient of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ‘Smart Welfare and Safety Service Improvement Model Development Support Project’ and will carry out activities to strengthen community safety.
The safety council, a public-private partnership, consists of about 50 members from organizations familiar with local conditions and related to safety, including the Dangsan 2-dong Community Service Center, the Residents’ Autonomy Committee, the Union of Neighborhood Leaders, the Autonomous Disaster Prevention Group, and the Autonomous Crime Prevention Unit.
The council’s activities include ▲identifying local safety issues ▲discovering blind spots in safety areas ▲developing specialized safety-related projects. It plans to actively expand the installation of ‘visible fire extinguishers’ and ‘smart fire alarms’ to enhance fire prevention and identify fire-vulnerable areas within the community.
In particular, the council will focus on patrol and inspection activities tailored to local characteristics to proactively respond to unexpected disasters caused by recent climate change and other factors. It will also carry out various safety culture activities such as lifestyle safety campaigns to establish residents’ safety awareness.
The Dangsan 2-dong Safety Council held its inauguration ceremony with about 100 attendees, including Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor Choi Ho-kwon, council members, and local residents, pledging cooperation for the safety of the village. On this day, Mayor Choi presented appointment letters and emphasized the council’s role and importance in contributing to the safety and happiness of the residents.
The Dangsan 2-dong Safety Council will operate until the end of this year and is expected to play a significant role as the neighborhood’s safety guardian through specific activities and projects to strengthen community safety.
Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “I thank the council members who have cooperated with the district for the safety and happiness of the residents and ask for their active participation,” adding, “We will continue to prioritize the safety of our residents and do our best to make Yeongdeungpo-gu safe from all kinds of disasters.”
