Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is transforming five vacant stores in traditional markets into startup spaces for young entrepreneurs.
This initiative is a hands-on effort to revitalize traditional markets and create jobs for youth.
The project aims to provide business operation opportunities to young merchants and inject youthful energy into traditional markets to drive change and innovation. It seeks tenants for five vacant stores: four in Sinseong Traditional Market and one in Junggok Jeil Alley Market.
Applicants must be Gwangjin-gu youth aged 19 to 39 as of the announcement date, August 21, who are not registered as business owners. Those with financial institution defaults, tax delinquencies, or previous beneficiaries of similar projects are excluded. Preference is given to those who have completed startup education or have received awards.
The eligible business fields include ▲items that can enhance the brand value of traditional markets ▲businesses capable of maintaining offline store operations ▲businesses suitable for image-making as a young traditional market ▲businesses that can develop together with existing traditional market merchants. Entertainment and gambling businesses are excluded from support.
Support includes full coverage of the store deposit and 50% of the store rent for two years from the start of the project. Additional costs such as management fees and interior expenses must be borne by the applicant.
The application period is from August 21 to September 4. Applicants must submit the business application form, proof of business registration status, resident registration certificate, and other required documents via email.
Selection involves a first-round document review and a second-round face-to-face interview. Final selection is based on combined scores from document evaluation and presentation assessment.
