Dongduk Women's University Hosts 'Global Leaders Forum' for Women Data Scientists

Inviting Women Leaders to Discuss Industry Trends and Technologies
Dongduk Women's University held a forum for female leaders in the field of data science.

The Venture Startup Academy Project Group at Dongduk Women's University announced on the 7th that it successfully hosted the '2024 Women Data Scientists Global Leaders Forum' in co-organization with the Women’s Committee of the Korea Information Processing Society. The forum was held on the 12th of last month to invite female leaders to share experiences and knowledge, and to discuss the latest industry trends and technologies.
The first part of the event began with a greeting from Professor Kim Hyun-hee of the Department of Information and Statistics at Dongduk Women's University, followed by presentations on the theme of 'Employment and Career Management Strategies as Told by Women Data Scientists.' Lectures were given in order by Shin Sin-ae, Director of the Korea Intelligent Information Society Agency; Professor Cheon Kyung-hee of Catholic University; Moon So-ri, Manager at NVIDIA; and Dr. Jo Hyung-sil of the Korean Women Scientists and Engineers Association in Europe.
The second part focused on the theme 'Women Data Scientists Leading Change,' featuring lectures by Professor Baek Min-kyung of Seoul National University on protein structure modeling and design, and by Director Cha Mi-young of the Max Planck Institute on data science for humanity.

Professor Han Hyuk, who concluded the event and is a faculty member of the Computer Science Department at Dongduk Women's University, stated, "This event is highly meaningful as it supported female students’ employment and career development in the data science field, strengthened practical skills, and provided opportunities for future women data scientists to stand out."
