'Jeong Jeom-sik Pressure' Han Dong-hoon "Appointments Are the Representative's Authority... Must Follow Public Will for Change"
At the Delayed Appointment Timing, "Filibuster and Others Must Be Considered"
Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, pressured Jeong Jeom-sik, chairman of the Policy Committee, to resign.
On the 1st, Han met with reporters at the National Assembly and said regarding Jeong's refusal to resign, "Personnel appointments are the authority of the party leader. People like former Secretary-General Seong Il-jong and Chairman Jeong of the Policy Committee have the character and ability that anyone would want to work with," adding, "However, our party must change, and we cannot ignore the party and public sentiment from the last party convention demanding swift change."
Regarding the delay in appointing party officials after the launch of the Han Dong-hoon administration, Han said, "It hasn't been long. Our party has been going through special political circumstances such as unlimited debate (filibuster)," and added, "Such factors must be considered when deciding the timing of appointments. Ultimately, the issue is not the appointments themselves but the process of doing good politics."
In response to reports that Presidential Chief of Staff Jeong Jin-seok expressed to Han his intention to keep Chairman Jeong in his position, Han said, "I am the leader of the ruling party, and it is not appropriate to confirm conversations held in private settings. I will not do so in the future either."
