Kim Tae-heum: "South Korea is the Seoul Republic... Let's Create a 5.6 Million Chungcheong Megacity"
Special Lecture at North Chungcheong Provincial Office: "Inefficiency and Weakened Competitiveness Caused by Japanese Colonial Rule System"
Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungnam, emphasized the concept of the 'Chungcheong Region One Team' in Chungbuk.
On the 1st, Governor Kim gave a special lecture at the Chungbuk Provincial Government under the theme 'Chungcheong is One,' highlighting the necessity of the Chungcheong Mega City and introducing the achievements of Strong Chungnam.
Governor Kim pointed out, "The Republic of Korea is like a Seoul Republic; while the capital area accounts for only 12% of South Korea's total land, 90% of the top 100 companies and 51% of medical institutions are concentrated there. The current system, established during the Japanese colonial period, leads to inefficiency, weakened competitiveness, and redundant or excessive investment."
He further emphasized, "If we create a mega city with a population of 5.6 million in Chungcheong, businesses and universities will thrive. If legislation, organization, personnel, and finances are given to local governments, and the central government only handles diplomacy, security, and coordination, we can achieve true local autonomy."
Governor Kim stated, "Politics is the process of changing the world through active expression of opinions and actions, which has similarities with administration. Please keep in mind that it is you, the public officials, who drive change in our society, and produce tangible results in line with Governor Kim Younghwan's administrative direction."
Governor Kim introduced the achievements of Strong Chungnam over the past two years of the 8th popularly elected administration: securing a government budget of 10 trillion won, attracting 19.3688 trillion won in investments from 163 companies, and being selected for the Micro-LED display project, among others.
