Andukgeun, Minister of Industry, "Winning Czech Nuclear Power Plant Contract, Paving the Way to Become a Nuclear Power Leader"
At the National Assembly Industry Committee Full Meeting
Anduk Geun, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, stated on the 29th, "Through the selection of the preferred negotiator for the Czech nuclear power plant, we have laid the foundation for orders worth approximately 24 trillion won and also paved the way for becoming a leading nuclear power nation."
On the same day, Minister Ahn said at the plenary meeting of the National Assembly's Trade, Industry, Energy, Small and Medium Venture Business Committee, "We will make every effort to ensure that the Czech nuclear power plant proceeds smoothly to the final contract and will also achieve additional results through all-out sales activities."
Minister Ahn emphasized that he will overcome the global complex crisis and revitalize the livelihood economy through continuous export and investment expansion in the future. The policy directions presented include ▲strengthening the ultra-gap capabilities of advanced industries ▲achieving $700 billion in exports and $35 billion in foreign investment ▲and a major transition to carbon-free energy.
First, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to quickly establish infrastructure such as power and water supply and specialized complexes to strengthen the ultra-gap capabilities of advanced industries such as semiconductors, which are future growth engines for Korea. It will also promote achieving 150 trillion won in private investment through the creation of growth ecosystems including materials, parts, and equipment, and customized financial and tax support. Additionally, in preparation for intensified global artificial intelligence (AI) competition, it will present manufacturing and technological directions for Korean industry and prepare the 'AI Industry Promotion Act.'
Minister Ahn stated, "To enhance energy security and secure stable supplies of critical mineral resources, we will promote promising domestic and overseas resource development, including the East Sea deep-sea gas field," and emphasized, "Through the enactment of the 'Regional Balanced Investment Promotion Act,' we will promote the creation of opportunity development zones, accelerate innovation in industrial complexes, revitalize local economies, and create quality jobs."
To achieve the record-high export target of $700 billion and foreign investment of $35 billion, export support will be strengthened in a customized manner by industry for major promising export items such as semiconductors and automobiles.

Finally, Minister Ahn said, "I ask for the support of the committee members for the enactment of the 'High-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Act' to complete the entire ecosystem of the domestic nuclear power industry," and added, "We will strengthen energy security while steadily promoting the major transition to carbon-free energy."
