Ethiopia: At Least 146 Dead in Southern Landslide
At least 146 people have died in a landslide in the mountainous region of southern Ethiopia, local major foreign media reported on the 23rd (local time).

View original imageAccording to reports, a landslide occurred due to heavy rain around 10 a.m. the previous day in the mountainous village of Gofa, about 450 km southwest of the capital Addis Ababa, burying residents. The death toll was initially counted as 55 by the previous day, but as search operations continued, the confirmed number of deaths increased to 146 as of the morning.
A local official stated that among the deceased were children and pregnant women, and the death toll could rise further depending on the progress of search and rescue operations.
