The university will now actively foster core ICT talents at the master's and doctoral levels in the fields of Edge AI and next-generation medical AI.
The "ICT Convergence Talent Project Group for Ultra-Low-Cost AI Systems for Edge" aims to train "Edge AI specialists." Edge AI is a distributed computing paradigm in which AI algorithms directly execute using data generated by devices.
As leading global IT companies are shifting from traditional cloud AI to edge AI, the demand for experts in this field is increasing.
Starting in 2025, the project group plans to offer graduate-level courses such as machine learning and artificial neural networks, and Edge AI system architecture, opening these AI and edge computing-related subjects to both major and non-major students to nurture experts.
The "Next-Generation Medical AI Diagnostic System Specialist Training Project Group" aims to foster experts in medical diagnostic systems utilizing artificial intelligence.
This group will establish graduate courses such as medical imaging systems and AI image analysis, deep learning and domain adaptation for medical diagnostics, and AI innovation projects for medical image data processing.
Additionally, the university will introduce a "Bachelor-Master-Doctoral Integrated Fast Track" and the "DKU AI Convergence Star Track" for junior and senior undergraduate students, linking advanced undergraduate tracks with graduate departments (majors) to cultivate core talents in related fields.
President Ahn Sooncheol stated, "Through the operation of practical training programs in partnership with companies and universities, we will accelerate the cultivation of core master's and doctoral-level talents in promising future ICT technology fields."
