Daegu National Museum Special Exhibition from the 9th
73 Items Including 'Daegu Bisan-dong Bronze Age Collection' Revealed
The bronze artifacts donated to the nation by the late Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee will be showcased in Daegu. These are the 'Daegu Bisandong Bronze Age Artifacts,' designated as National Treasures in 1971.
The National Daegu Museum will present an exhibition titled "Daegu Bisandong 2,000 Years Ago and Goryeong Jisandong 1,500 Years Ago" in the special exhibition hall starting from the 9th. Among the items donated by Chairman Lee Kun-hee, seventy-three artifacts related to Daegu and Gyeongbuk, including the "Daegu Bisandong Bronze Age Artifacts" and the "Former Goryeong Artifact Collection," will be displayed.
The "Daegu Bisandong Bronze Age Artifacts" were discovered in 1956 by a local resident passing by the northern foothills of Waryongsan in Daegu. The collection includes spears, swords, and sword sheath fittings. The spears and hooked spears are believed to have been used more for ceremonial purposes than as weapons. The hooked spear was used by binding the spearhead horizontally to the end of a wooden shaft to stab or slash opponents. The artifacts found in Bisandong measure up to 37 cm in length.
