The police have launched a strong investigation following the report of the intelligence dossier containing allegations of 'frakchi' activities by Kim Sun-ho, the inaugural Director of the Police Bureau at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and former head of the Korean National Police University.
The Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has been executing search warrants since around 8 a.m. on the 12th, targeting individuals related to the Recording and Guidance Operation Suspicious Death Investigation Committee (Suspicious Death Committee), which raised the 'frakchi' allegations against former Director Kim. The office of the Solidarity of Organizations Commemorating National Democratic Martyrs and Victims (Chumo Yeondae) in Jongno-gu, Seoul, associated with these individuals, was also searched.
A representative of Chumo Yeondae stated, "The search began in the presence of a lawyer from the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Legal Office, and all computers and materials in the office are being examined," adding, "We plan to hold a press conference tomorrow to condemn the search."
Previously, in August 2022, a media outlet obtained and reported on the intelligence dossier from the Republic of Korea Army Security Command containing allegations of 'frakchi' activities by former Director Kim. In response, Kim submitted a complaint to the police, demanding an investigation into how the dossier was leaked to the media.
