Clio is showing strong performance. The color cosmetics brand ‘Twinklepop by CLIO’ (hereinafter Twinklepop) is being introduced through Japan's Seven-Eleven, raising expectations for improved earnings. Seven-Eleven is the leading convenience store chain in Japan with the most stores. It is the first time in 20 years that a new makeup brand has entered Seven-Eleven Japan.
As of 11:07 AM on the 12th, Clio's stock price was 42,950 KRW, up 3,650 KRW (9.29%) compared to the previous trading day.
By launching Twinklepop, Clio plans to more than double its existing offline store presence in Japan from about 15,000 to approximately 35,000 stores. In the Japanese cosmetics market, 65% of sales come from offline distribution channels. The entry into Seven-Eleven is significant as it marks Clio's first foray into the local convenience store channel in Japan.
In April, Clio acquired 100% equity stakes in two companies: ‘Duwon,’ a Japanese cosmetics retailer, and ‘Kiwami,’ a cosmetics import agency.
Yoon Seong-hoon, Vice President of Clio, said, "At the product expo held in April for Seven-Eleven franchisees in Japan, Twinklepop demonstrated the power of K-beauty with its sophisticated colors and packaging design."
Based on consolidated financial statements for the first quarter of this year, Clio achieved sales of 93 billion KRW, a 24% increase compared to the same period last year, continuing a 12-quarter streak of sales growth. It set a new record for quarterly sales. North American sales, centered on the Goodal brand, grew by 48%. Southeast Asian markets such as Vietnam and Singapore also showed a high growth rate of 129%.
Park Hyun-jin, a researcher at Shinhan Investment Corp., said, "There is no doubt that Clio is a leading stock in the indie beauty trend," adding, "It is a representative indie beauty company with sales increasing across Japan, China, North America, and Southeast Asia." He continued, "It is an attractive cosmetics company steadily increasing its exposure at a time when North American growth is expected to stand out," and added, "Goodal’s Cheonggyul Vitamin C Blemish Care Serum product consistently maintains a top ranking on Amazon."
