Hamyang County Governor Jin Byungyoung Participates in Onion Harvest Season Farm Labor Support
Over 280 Public Officials Participate
Timely Farming Achieved, Including Onion Harvesting
Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, launched a large-scale rural volunteer campaign on June 12 to support onion and fruit farms facing difficulties such as labor shortages during the peak onion harvest season.
County Governor Jin Byungyoung visited onion farms struggling during the harvest season and helped with onion harvesting.

The county selected 14 farms from among socially disadvantaged households?such as those with illness or injury making farm work difficult, recipients of basic livelihood security, lower-income groups, farms with disabled members, elderly farmers over 70, women, and single-person households?to assist with onion harvesting and Shine Muscat grape thinning.
The county expects that this volunteer campaign will help farms suffering from worsening labor shortages due to rural depopulation and aging populations to carry out timely farming and boost the morale of local farmers.
Mayor Jin also joined the staff in harvesting onions and listened to the farmers’ concerns, saying, “I hope this volunteer effort will be of some help to farms struggling with labor shortages,” and added, “As this is a peak period for farm work, I ask for the participation of many people in this volunteer campaign.”
