Gyeonggi-do to 'Green Remodel' 51 Public Buildings Over 10 Years Old
Gyeonggi Province will carry out 'Green Remodeling' on 51 public buildings within the province this year.
The Green Remodeling project supports energy performance improvements and greenhouse gas emission reductions for public buildings such as daycare centers, senior centers, and public health centers that have been in use for more than 10 years. This includes insulation reinforcement of walls and windows, installation of high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, and renewable energy generation facilities.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 11th that 51 public buildings in the province were selected for the '2024 Public Building Green Remodeling' project promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Seventy percent of the total project cost will be funded by the national government, with the remaining 30% covered by local government funds.
By usage, there are 7 daycare centers, 5 public health centers, and 39 senior centers. Among these, one public health center and two senior centers were selected as 'Signature' projects, receiving about twice the funding compared to general projects.
The selected projects will receive national funding this month, and the projects will commence in the second half of the year after securing local government budgets.
Lee Eun-seon, Director of the Architectural Design Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The core of the public building Green Remodeling project is to encourage voluntary expansion in the private sector," adding, "We will implement more policies for carbon-neutral green growth in Gyeonggi Province."
