T-ara's Areum Sent to Prosecution on Child Abuse Charges... Child Restraining Order Issued
Mother Also Sent to Prosecution on Charges of Abducting and Luring a Minor
Former girl group T-ara member Lee Areum has been referred to the prosecution on charges of child abuse.
According to Dong-A Ilbo on the 3rd, the Gwangmyeong Police Station in Gyeonggi recently sent Lee to the prosecution on charges of child abuse, child abandonment and neglect, and abduction and enticement of a minor. Lee's mother, Ms. A, was also sent to the prosecution on charges of abduction and enticement of a minor.
Lee had previously filed a complaint with the police, claiming that her ex-husband Mr. B abused their children. Mr. B also filed a complaint against Lee for child abuse around February to March.
The police, who conducted the related investigation, found that Lee was guilty of child abuse and referred her to the prosecution. It is reported that Lee and others were also ordered temporary restraining measures prohibiting contact with the children. Mr. B is known to have recently been cleared of charges.
A police official said, "After considering various circumstances, we judged that there was sufficient evidence to charge Lee and her mother and referred the case."
