On the morning of the 30th, the Daejeon Fire Department branch held a press conference at the Daejeon City Hall briefing room, stating, "The staffing standards for general public officials allocate 50% to 60% for grades 6 to 7, but for firefighters, the proportion of grades 6 and 7 is less than 20%," and pointed out, "The current staffing standards for firefighters are a complete discrimination."
They continued, "Although the rescue and emergency activity allowance for firefighters was increased for the first time in 27 years this January, my colleagues beside me cannot receive it," emphasizing, "Only when all firefighters engaged in rescue and emergency activities, including the 119 comprehensive situation room and on-site response teams, receive this allowance can we say there is fairness and justice."
