Lee Jun-seok, a lawmaker from the Reform New Party, evaluated the ruling party's opposition to the Chae Sang-byeong special prosecutor law on the 30th as a "very bad choice."
On the morning of the same day, Lee said on SBS Radio regarding the rejection of the re-vote on the Chae Sang-byeong special prosecutor law, "They criticized Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, for shielding himself, but this time (the government and ruling party) used a veto to shield themselves," expressing this view.
He explained, "After handling it this way, the Democratic Party will monopolize the standing committee, and the public's resistance or rejection to pushing through the fast track again will inevitably decrease significantly."
He added, "The vote on the Chae Sang-byeong special prosecutor law is just one vote, but in the future, countless special prosecutors or national investigations will be conducted, and the Democratic Party and the pan-opposition forces will inevitably gain more power."
Lee analyzed, "Recent moves by Leader Lee Jae-myung, such as signaling political messages like accepting some ruling party opinions on pension reform, indicate that he has composure and confidence from his position," and "In terms of public image, it seems he is trying to build an image of 'I want to cooperate, I am generous.'"
