114th Anniversary of Dongduk Academy Foundation and 74th Anniversary Ceremony of Dongduk Women's University Establishment
Dongduk Women's University held the '114th Anniversary Ceremony of Dongduk Academy Foundation and the 74th Anniversary Ceremony of Dongduk Women's University, as well as the Honorary Doctorate of Literature Award Ceremony for Professor Inho Lee.'
The event took place on the 27th at 10 a.m. in the main auditorium of the Dongduk 100th Anniversary Hall. Part 1 consisted of the 114th anniversary ceremony of Dongduk Academy Foundation and the 74th anniversary ceremony of Dongduk Women's University; Part 2 was the honorary doctorate award ceremony for Professor Inho Lee; and Part 3 was a congratulatory reception.

During Part 1, the long-term service award ceremony for faculty and staff was held. A total of 21 people were honored: 3 staff members with 30 years of service, 10 people with 20 years of service (9 faculty members and 1 staff member), and 8 people with 10 years of service (6 faculty members and 2 staff members).
Chairman Wonyoung Cho of Dongduk Academy Foundation delivered a commemorative speech, stating, "Universities must always stand at the forefront of change and fulfill their fundamental roles, advancing by responding to new challenges and innovations. This is the task of the university and of us all." He added, "As Mr. Chungkang demonstrated, we must seek change centered on Dongduk's unique identity and values with foresight into the future."
President Myeongae Kim of Dongduk Women's University said in her congratulatory address, "I am very pleased to commemorate together the 114th anniversary of the Dongduk Academy Foundation and the 74th anniversary of Dongduk Women's University on this meaningful occasion." She continued, "I deeply honor the glorious achievements of the pioneers and predecessors who have preserved Dongduk."
In Part 2, Dongduk Women's University held its first honorary doctorate award ceremony since its founding in 1950. The first recipient of the honorary doctorate was Professor Inho Lee, the first Korean woman to earn a doctoral degree from Harvard University and who served as ambassador to Finland and Russia. On this day, Dongduk Women's University awarded Dr. Lee an honorary Doctorate of Literature in recognition of her outstanding leadership on the global stage, international insight that elevated Korea's international standing, and her great inspiration to future generations of female leaders.

Dr. Inho Lee expressed, "Through the education I received at university, I gained a sense of what it means to live beautifully as a human being, unlike beasts or machines, and the confidence that I should and can live that way. It also gave me the courage to raise my voice in opposition without hesitation when things go against that." She added, "The honorary doctorate I receive will be a great source of strength to help me never lose that courage until the day I die. If it can serve as an inspiring precedent for my juniors, especially the students of Dongduk Women's University, who have many more days to live than I do, to have even greater wisdom and courage, I could ask for nothing more."
