'CU Targeting Single-Person Households, Selling Whole Watermelons to Watermelon Slices'
Watermelons Around 5kg... Price Reflecting Raw Material Market Down
Small Portions of Boneless Watermelon Also Released
CU, a convenience store operated by BGF Retail, announced on the 28th that it will sell watermelon products targeting single-person and two-person households.
The watermelons introduced by CU weigh around 5 kg. With a sweetness level of 11 Brix or higher, watermelons from Nonsan will be sold until next month, followed by watermelons from Eumseong starting in July. Reflecting the decrease in the market price of raw watermelons, CU plans to lower the price and regularly monitor cost fluctuations during the product's availability to adjust the selling price accordingly.
CU has consecutively launched watermelon products, a popular summer fruit.

CU also launched 'Fresh and Lively Cut Watermelon.' This product contains only diced seedless watermelon in a small 250g portion suitable for one to two servings, enhancing convenience for consumption. The company explained that, given that single- and two-person households mainly use convenience stores, the sales ratio of cut watermelon to whole watermelon is approximately 8 to 2, indicating a high demand for small-sized products.
