Overcoming the Plateau... The Secret of an Australian Woman Who Lost 24kg in 8 Months
Utilizing High-Intensity Interval Training (HIT)
Rapid Body Fat Burning but Risk of Injury Also Present
A story has been revealed about an Australian woman who succeeded in losing a total of 24 kg through the 'HIT' (High-Intensity Interval Training) exercise method during a weight loss plateau.
On the 9th (local time), the US 'New York Post' detailed the diet method of Dils Lee (28), a woman who succeeded in losing 24 kg over 8 months. Before dieting, Dils Lee's weight reached as high as 87 kg.
She said, "I felt pain and discomfort in my body," and added, "I started dieting not just to look good, but because I want to live as long and as healthily as possible with my husband."
She succeeded in losing 16 kg over 6 months, but then experienced a plateau where her weight stopped dropping. A plateau refers to a period during dieting when weight loss halts.
Dils overcame the plateau with HIT. HIT is a training method that alternates between high-intensity and low-to-moderate intensity exercises. In other words, it involves understanding your heart rate and breathing during exercise to find the appropriate exercise intensity.
For example, when cycling, you first exercise until your breathing becomes heavy, then slow down the pedaling speed as it becomes difficult to breathe. Conversely, when your breathing stabilizes, you increase the speed again to maintain the proper exercise intensity.
The HIT exercise method helps improve cardiopulmonary endurance and muscle strength, and is especially known as an exercise method that can rapidly burn body fat in a short period. However, since it involves repeatedly performing high-intensity exercises, it can easily strain the body. Therefore, it is necessary to make the body flexible with sufficient stretching before starting exercise.

Also, Dils said, "To break through the plateau, I maintained a low-carbohydrate, high-protein diet." In reality, during weight loss, not only fat but also muscle decreases, and muscle loss leads to a decrease in basal metabolic rate, which can prolong the plateau. Consuming high-protein foods helps maintain muscle mass.
