Registration Opens for Exhibition Entries at 'Busan Indie Connect Festival 2024'
August 16-18 at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1, Online Exhibition August 9-30
Competition: General and Rookie Categories, Non-Competition: ConnectPick ... Total 3 Categories
Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-jun) announced that starting from the 10th, the Busan Indie Connect Festival Organizing Committee will begin accepting submissions for exhibition entries for the ‘Busan Indie Connect Festival 2024 (BIC 2024)’.
‘BIC 2024’ will be held for three days from August 16 to 18 at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1 in Busan, with the online exhibition running from August 9 to 30.
This year’s exhibition submissions will be accepted in three categories: the competitive categories ▲General and ▲Rookie (newcomer) sections, and the non-competitive category ▲Connect Pick.
The ‘BIC 2024’ exhibition works will be composed of competitive categories (General and Rookie) and non-competitive categories (Connect Pick, Public Indie, Invitations, etc.), with selected works coming from the General, Rookie, and Connect Pick categories. Selected entries will receive various benefits, including booth provision for the exhibition.
The submission periods are as follows: ▲General category from the 10th to May 16 ▲Rookie category for students or unemployed individuals under 25 from the 10th to June 19 ▲Connect Pick, a non-competitive category selected by votes from domestic and international indie game enthusiasts (Big Connectors), from the 10th to May 28.
Works selected in the competitive categories of ‘BIC 2024’ will have the opportunity to promote their games through the multilingual program ‘Live Indie’.
‘Live Indie’ is a real-time streaming space (streaming booth) held at the ‘BIC 2024’ event venue, where live broadcasts and content filming take place.
Through this, creators can freely broadcast indie game-related content, and partner organizations and groups of ‘BIC 2024’ can air their own programs live to share various information related to the indie game industry, thereby promoting indie games.
The BIC Organizing Committee stated, “Game information registration can be freely modified during the submission period, so to reduce issues caused by a rush of submissions on the deadline, it is recommended to register information in advance.”
For the General and Rookie categories, executable files and compressed files must be submitted, while for Connect Pick, submitting an internet address (link) to a gameplay video is mandatory. Optional submissions include links to released market pages or playable build files. Of course, game builds can also be changed during the submission period.
Detailed information about submissions can be found on the official BIC website, and any inquiries can be made via email or phone to the BIC Organizing Committee.
Shim Jae-min, Director of the City’s Culture and Sports Bureau, said, “The interest of indie game developers and participants is crucial for the successful hosting of the 10th Busan Indie Connect Festival,” adding, “We hope that a diverse range of domestic and international indie game works will be submitted, creating a rich on- and offline festival full of attractions.”
