Japanese Man Intrudes into Korean Embassy in Japan on Sunday... "Investigation Underway"
An unidentified Japanese individual was found to have trespassed into the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Japan, located in Tokyo, Japan. Concerns have been raised about security vulnerabilities at the diplomatic mission.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassy on the 5th, on the morning of the 18th of last month, a Japanese man climbed over the embassy's side fence adjacent to a private residence and entered the embassy grounds. This man crossed over the neighbor's fence into the embassy premises, and upon receiving the alarm, embassy staff detected and continuously tracked the intruder.
Chased by embassy personnel, the intruder attempted to escape by climbing over the fence again but was arrested by Japanese police who were waiting outside after being contacted by the embassy, within 14 minutes.
An embassy official stated, "The intruder did not enter the building, so we understand that no items or documents were stolen." The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the embassy is currently working with headquarters and the host country’s police authorities to devise enhanced security measures.
